Coders and Printers

Using extremely small electrically charged droplets of ink, small character continuous inkjet printing (CIJ) is suitable for coding of irregular products and on high-speed lines. CIJ can be used across a host of sectors, from food to cosmetics to automotive to biomedical laboratories. Linx CIJ printers in particular are robust, easy to use, and versatile, being able to code on a different sizes, shapes and substrates. Elixir is a trusted partner of Linx, providing local distribution alongside complete post-sales service.
Laser technology is suitable for printing high quality, permanent codes quickly and reliably. Users can benefit from low costs of ownership, since this type of printing does not use consumables. Laser-printed codes and marks are indelible, which makes it optimal for brand protection and other long-lasting applications. Aside from being employed in a wide range of industries, lasers can also code onto glass, plastics, metal, and cardboard. At Elixir, we locally distribute Linx laser printers and offer complete post-sales service to Philippine clients.
Thermal transfer overprinters are the coder of choice for flexible packaging films and self-adhesive labels, often found on snack food, confectioneries, and fresh produce. A high-resolution thermal print within the machine melts ink onto the substrate to produce print. TTOs manufactured by Linx are further designed for efficiency, minimizing downtime and maximizing ribbon economy. Elixir is a trusted partner and distributor of Linx printers in the Philippines, guiding customers from the purchase all the way to maintenance and repairs.

In the trading industry, packaged goods, especially food products, must have a use-by date on the primary packaging, and a best-before date in most other cases. Moreover, retailers also require date code information on secondary packaging of finished goods. In order to meet these standard requirements, manufacturers batch codes are used in order to assist with product QC procedures, including product traceability. Retail date codes must be clearly read and easily visible to the end consumer, thus should be indelible.

Printing Use-by, Best Before Dates & Batch Codes

There are many possible methods to print date codes on retail items, including use of Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) printer, Thermal Transfer Overprinting (TTO) and Laser Coding. CIJ printers have the benefit of being able to indelibly and clearly mark on all packaging substrates at all production speeds.

Furthermore, they are also very easily integrated on to any production line. Lasers on the other hand, require fewer consumables and will leave permanent mark on the product coded.
